Beyonce signs on to play Etta James - 2008-01-28
Beyonce Knowles will star as jazz icon Etta James in Darnell Martin's film Cadillac Records. The movie, co-starred by Adrien Brody and Jeffrey Wright, revolves around the development of the 1950s Chicago music scene and the founding of Chess Records. A source said Beyonce is thrilled to portray the singing legend. "Beyonce is a massive fan of the superb Etta. She’s honoured to play her." The film is due for a late 2008 release date
