Message from Beyonce
Message from Beyonce
Yesterday, "Beautiful Nightmare," a demo I've been working on for possible inclusion on my next album, leaked on some websites. I want to thank all my fans for the positive response to the song, but I want to tell you that this is just a work in progress. It is not my time to put out new music. If you really want to hear some really great music now, you have to support my girls Kelly, Michelle and my sister Solange. Kelly just re-released her album digitally in the US, so check out "Ms. Kelly: Diva Deluxe." Michelle is about to put out the first single, "We Break The Dawn," from her album and Solange's single, "I Decided," is already one of my favorites.

Beyonce and Jay-Z News of Marriage Grows
Before '60 Minutes'
Mike Wallace is gone from "60 Minutes," but some of his earliest work is available online through an acquisition by the University of Texas' Harry Ransom Center. Wallace donated kinescopes of the shows to UT in the 1960s, which the Ransom Center has transferred to a digital format for online distribution.
These are not the "gotcha" grabs for which Wallace became famous on "60 Minutes." Rather, these are 63 interviews he conducted during the 1957 and 1958 seasons of his nationally syndicated documentary series "The Mike Wallace Interview."
Among the newsmakers Wallace interviewed are architect Frank Lloyd Wright, artist Salvador Dali, actor Kirk Douglas, diplomat Henry Kissinger, former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt and birth-control activist Margaret Sanger. Go to www.hrc.utexas.edu/wallace.

Beyonce, Jay-Z
After the media was frenzied over rumors about his much anticipated wedding with Beyonce, Jay-Z preferred to keep silent again about the matter, during his concert in North Carolina on Saturday.
But Mary J. Blige, who was also performing on the “Heart of the City” tour, couldn’t refrain from confirming something important had happened in the life of the rapper and his longtime girlfriend Beyonce, People magazine reports.
According to People, before starting to sing “You’re All I Need,” Blige shouted out loud: "Congratulations to my man, Jay-Z, and my girl B!”
Jay-Z did not comment on Blige’s words and referred to Beyonce only once during the concert, but not regarding the wedding episode.
A close friend of the couple told People that the two had married in a private ceremony, but neither Jay-Z nor his girlfriend confirmed the rumors.
The rumors about a possible wedding started after the couple, who have been together for six years, took out a wedding license valid for 60 days, in Scarsdale Village, New York.
Since then, the media was sent into frenzy, with lots of photographers and reporters gathering near Jay-Z’s penthouse in the Tribeca area of New York, where a white tent was erected on the roof in the day of the supposed wedding.
The couple apparently followed their intimate ceremony with a big party where many famous guests were invited. Former members of Destiny’s Child, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, were present, and friend Gwyneth Paltrow also showed up, accompanied by her husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin.
Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z have been a discreet couple since they got together in 2002. Perhaps they would not even have made their romance public, had it not been for their collaborations on Jay-Z’s song “’03 Bonnie & Clyde” and Beyoncé’s solo hit “Crazy in Love,” in 2003, which sparked rumors that their partnership was not solely musical.
Mary J. Bliges Concert Shout-Out to Jay-Z Beyonce
Mum was the wedding word from Jay-Z as he hit the stage in North Carolina on Saturday – a day after a friend says he married Beyoncé Knowles – revealing nothing about a ceremony and wearing no ring.
But co-headliner Mary J. Blige on the "Heart of the City" tour couldn't maintain the same level of silence, shouting to the sold-out Greensboro audience: "Congratulations to my man, Jay-Z, and my girl B," before starting her set with "You're All I Need."
Otherwise, it was musical business as usual for Jay-Z, who stuck to the concert script, performing on his own and doing duets with Blige. Beyoncé was nowhere to be seen, and his only reference to her came when he played a few notes of "Crazy in Love," then cut it off, saying, "Sorry, B." But this is something he does at every show.
A couple since 2002, Jay-Z, 38, and Beyonce, 26, have long kept quiet about their relationship, and their reps are still not comfirming a wedding. But a friend tells PEOPLE: "It happened earlier (Friday) evening. Jay wanted it to be a really private affair – close friends and family."
The ceremony was followed by a lavish party at the rapper's Tribeca apartment that drew Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles, her father/manager Mathew, her sister Solange, her Destiny's Child mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and the couple's friend Gwyneth Paltrow. Knowles is also producing and co-starring as Etta James in upcoming biopic Cadillac Records.
Ring the Alarm Medics Sent to Beyonces Trailer
Ring the Alarm! Medics Sent to Beyonce's Trailer
Just before midnight yesterday, paramedics were called to Beyonce's trailer on the New Jersey set of her new film "Cadillac Records" -- but it was her mom, Tina Knowles, who needed the medical attention.
TMZ spoke exclusively to Beyonce's father, Matthew Knowles, who said medics were called because Tina has the flu and began to experience shortness of breath. Paging Janet Jackson!
Matthew tells us Tina's blood pressure was a little high and she was checked out by medics -- but she was not transported.

The Freemasons, Beyonce, And The Thrill Of The Histrionic Diva House Anthem
Despite our housebound reputation, even bloggers like to occasionally go out and shake what passes for our stuff. That's why every two weeks Idolator club guru Tim Finney will be dragging us onto the dancefloor to explore the latest sounds from the worlds of house, techno, and beyond. After the jump, he gives himself over to the martial beat of the Freemasons, finds out what happens when R&B divas become unwitting weapons in the "gay house" arsenal, and offers tantalizing clues to what Beyonce's next move might sound like.
Beyonce's Mother Gets Emergency Medical Treatment On Film Set News
Beyonce's Mother Gets Emergency Medical Treatment On Film Set
Beyonce Knowles' designer mom Tina sparked fears for her health on Tuesday night when an ambulance was called to the singer/actress' trailer on the set of Cadillac Records.
Tina Knowles had joined the Ring The Alarm superstar on location in New Jersey when she began to experience shortness of breath due to a bout of influenza - the same symptoms suffered by a sick Janet Jackson Monday.
Paramedics arrived on the scene minutes before midnight on Tuesday and while the emergency medical technicians (emt) refused to comment to waiting paparazzi about who they were called out to treat, TMZ.com claims Beyonce's dad Matthew confirmed it was Tina who needed attention, not his famous daughter.
Tina was checked over by the Emts and despite high blood pressure, her condition was not thought serious enough to transport her to local hospital.
Beyonce A Beauty Trendsetter?
Beyonce A Beauty Trendsetter?
CBS) In cosmetics, it's always about the next big beauty blockbuster.
So what's it going to be this year? What'll be "in"? "Hot"?
Allure magazine is always on the hunt for the best of the best.
And the magazine's beauty director, Amy Keller, peered into her crystal ball for Early Show viewers Monday.
Allure constantly keeps an eye out for the latest beauty products and treatments -- searching, testing, as well as working with experts to find the best of the best.
Among the beauty products on Allure's radar now:
Chanel Nail Colour in Blue Satin, $19.00
Unusual nail polish colors such as blue and green are a trend we're already seeing lots of celebrities wearing, including Beyonce and Aretha at this year's Grammys. Chanel has come out with a deep navy blue color with a bit of a shimmer, called "Blue Satin." It's a nice alternative to wearing black, and a fun color to wear for spring that isn't the typical pale pink. Go to Chanel.com
Given that laser hair removal is the No. 1 non-surgical cosmetic treatment for women under 34 (Source: American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), the development of the Tria, the first at-home Federal Drug Administration-approved laser hair remover, is a big deal. It emits a short pulse of light, then beeps when it's time to move it. You can use it on your legs, underarms, and bikini area. Being a laser, there is some slight discomfort, a little redness and warmth. However, this is a fantastic option for women to use as a touch-up between doctor visits. The engineers who created the diode hair removal laser that doctors use in-office created the Tria. Go to Triabeauty.com
N.V. Perricone M.D. Cosmeceuticals Firming Neck Cream, $95.00
As we continue our search for that fountain of youth, sales of anti-aging products totaled a whopping $1.7 billion last year alone (Source: NPD Group). But it's not just about the face. Now, women are beginning to pay more attention to other parts of their bodies, including the neck, and with good reason -- the skin on the neck is thin and sensitive, often leading to the dreaded "turkey neck" as we age. The new Perricone firming neck cream supposedly plumps the neck with peptides, an anti-aging ingredient commonly used in face creams. It's non-irritating and has vitamin C, which is good for improving firmness and elasticity, while reducing the appearance of lines, wrinkles and dark spots. GO to QVC.com
Laura Mercier Faux Eyelashes (Center Lash, Corner Lash or Full Lash), $18.00 each
False lashes are once again growing in popularity. Women used to be afraid to try them at home, but that's changing with the introduction of better lashes that are easier to apply. The new Laura Mercier line of faux eyelashes now enables you to have coverage where you want it -- either in the center, corner, or a full lash if you need it. Go to lauramercier.com
Fekkai Salon Glaze, $28.00
Everyone loves the results at the salon after a glaze, and now we can do it at home, between salon visits. The Fekkai salon glaze is a clear glossing and conditioning treatment that seals in color and adds shine and vibrancy. This can be used on all hair types, especially color-treated hair, and it's made with all natural ingredients, including grape-seed extract and almond protein. It's a great alternative to salon-only glazing services. Go to beauty.com
Maia Satinjet Showerhead by Methven, $395
Water therapy is all the rage these days, and now you can receive the ultimate water spa experience with the Maia Satinjet -- a showerhead that removes chlorine from the water; it can dry out your skin and hair. The multi-purpose showerhead uses twin jets to turn each normal-size droplet of water into thousands, delivering a luxe spray of 3,000 drops per second, which is ample shower power for the body, but also gentle enough for a great facial massage. Also, recently introduced -- calming, soothing and energizing shower infusions that can be placed inside the nozzle. Scents include lavender and vanilla, green tea and peppermint, grapefruit and pomegranite...
Beyoncé plays Etta James
Beyoncé plays Etta James
Filming commenced this month, the first images are out, and here's the proof; Beyoncé really is playing Etta James in the upcoming Cadillac Records. This film is not a biopic of James (though that's not a bad idea), but a chronicle of the fortunes of Chicago record label Chess Records and its musicians. The cast includes Adrien Brody as Leonard Chess and Jeffrey Wright as Muddy Waters.
So here's a look at Beyoncé and the original.
And here's the first image off the set.
Even though this is not a biopic, the casting, you can imagine, is a topic for fairly ugly debate (even NPR had a blogger roundtable partially devoted to it). I do wonder about the wisdom of the role as a career move, at least for the negative press it's generating, including the inevitable references to the supposed Beyoncé/Jennifer Hudson rivalry following Hudson's Oscar win for Dreamgirls. And much (annoying) speculation about whether Beyoncé will be gaining weight or wearing prosthetics to look more like James. Can I take this moment to say that the young Etta James was no Twiggy, but she was certainly not fat?
She was, however, a complex person who, shall we say, tried a lot of things in her life. Or, as PageSix reports, she said of herself: “"Oh my god, she [Beyoncé] is going to have a hill to climb, because Etta James ain't been no angel!" Beyoncé doesn't quite fit that mold, Etta explained:
"I wasn't as bourgie as she is, she's bourgeois. She knows how to be a lady, she's like a model. I wasn't like that ... I smoked in the bathroom in school, I was kinda arrogant, so those are some of the things I would want to tell her."
No word (that I could find) about how/if the movie will treat James' addiction to heroin. Or if the movie will touch on her rumored affairs with women. But the possibility of such scenes is what really has people questioning the casting. Well, that and the idea that Beyonce might perform that little number “At Last.” Here's a nifty version with a slide show of vintage pictures of James across a few decades:

I'm withholding judgment on the casting for the moment. While I can think of singers who remind me more of James, and I personally wish the role had gone to one of the many talented African-American actresses (not singers) in Hollywood who never have enough roles anyway, I didn't think Beyoncé sucked in Dreamgirls. (I may be in the minority on that.) And if it's true that James may have a little hand in coaching Beyoncé on the vocals, well. The chance to work with Etta herself? You can't blame her for wanting the role.
